7 Ways To Use Your Dukkah
Dukkah will impart an explosion of flavors and texture wherever you use it. These are some of our favorite applications:
YOGURT
While dukkah is savory flavor, we find that it works well in both sweet and savory yogurt dishes.
Our favorite combos: 1) yogurt, chopped cucumbers, dill finished with a few shakes of dukkah and olive oil; 2) Yogurt, any fresh fruit , dukkah and a drizzle of honey/maple or fav-apricot jam.
SALADS
This spice blend will instantly upgrade your salad - from a simple green salad to pasta salad to your favorite grain bowl.
VEGETABLES
From a plate full of fresh cut vegetables to roasted vegetables in the oven. Sprinkle it on and don’t hold back.
DIPS
To take your favorite dip into a new level, sprinkle the dukkah over your hummus, labne, any soft cheese for this matter will work really nice with it (ricotta, feta-- you name it!). Whatever you are plating the dip or spreading on a sandwich make sure to top with lots of dukkah for maximum flavor.
PROTEIN
While you can use the dukkah as a crust before you cook your fish or steak, I like to add it after to make sure the pistachios won’t burn during the cooking process. Top your roasted fish, grilled meats, eggs, hallumi, tofu- all goes!
SOUPS
Besides giving your soup a garnish like no other, it will add just the right satisfying texture and aromatic flavor to your soups. Will go particularly well with flavors like carrot, butternut squash, tomato, parsnip, cauliflower and etc
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Go about it the classic way- served fresh bread with a little bowl of dukkah and a little bowl of olive oil. Explain to your guests to dip their bread in the oil and then into the dukkah. Simplicity at its best.
GENERAL NOTES
Dukkah is very similar to za’atar in its application so feel free to use any recipe that calls for za’atar with dukkah
