Grilled Harissa Salmon

Salmon is a staple fish in our house and most of the time our go to is this 2 ingredient salmon marinade using our preserved lemon paste.

One day I was looking to change things up and came up with this marinade. It’s been on rotation ever since. Full of umami from the preserved lemon paste and soy sauce, sweetness from the date syrup and the harissa brings everything together in the most perfect way.

You like things on the sweeter side? add more date syrup
You prefer more tanginess? add more preserved lemon paste
You love heat? add some of our fiery harissa for a nice kick
Looking for even more layers of flavor? grate in a small garlic clove and a knob of ginger

Serves 4

For the marinade:

2lb salmon fillet, skin on

1/4 cup Signature Harissa

1.5 tablespoon Preserved Lemon Paste

1.5 tablespoon soy sauce

2 tablespoons date syrup

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, add in the salmon and cover all around with the marinade. You can definitely marinade the fish in advance until you are ready to grill it. Place the fish on a hot grill, and depending on the size and thickness of your piece of your fish cook for approx 5 minutes on each side.

You can also broil the fish in the oven or toaster oven for the same great result. Depending on the thickness of the fish you get I would broil for 10-15 minutes.
