Meet my newest obsession in the kitchen. Hawaij Butter.

I’m no butter connoisseur.. i’m perfectly fine with getting my butter in packs of 5 from Costco for when we need to have it on hand for a baking project. Ron on the other end gets immense pleasure slicing butter as if its a chunk of cheese and piling it high on his toasted bread (and topping it with the rotating home made jam we have in the fridge) This means that whenever we are grocery shopping he ends up adding all the best butters from around the world to the cart.

Luckily when I decided to create this recipe I knew that i’ll be making a dent in his stash. All of this to tell you that you need the good stuff for this recipe. Don’t settle.

Mix 1/4 cup room temp salted butter with 1 tablespoon of Hawaij. That easy.

Now that your hawaij butter is ready, the fun begins.

The options are endless and it will add that special something to everything it touches.

Suggested pairing:

  • place a knob of butter over fish, either bake or pan dry.

  • mix with pasta, grate cheese on top.

  • sautee your greens with it (spinach, swiss chard and anything else you fancy)

  • sautee your beans/ chickpeas with it. add all the herbs.

  • vegetables! from tomatoes to zucchini they all work so well.

  • on your baked savory goods.

  • add to your rice or any grain you prefer
